The CAFFEINE Consideration

TEA ANDCAFFEINE
(What you should know)
~

In moderation caffeine can be a beneficial. Caffeine stimulates the metabolism, increases brain function and alertness. However, the stress of modern life, and the prevalence of coffee and caffeinated colas, has lead people to caffeine overload.

A CAFFEINE COMPARISON:

~
1 c. coffee has approximately 125-185 milligrams of caffeine
1 c. full leaf BLACK TEA has approximately 45-60 milligrams of caffeine
1 c. full leaf OOLONG TEA has approximately 35-45 milligrams of caffeine
1 c. full leaf GREEN TEA has approximately 15-20 milligrams of caffeine
1 c. full leaf WHITE TEA has approximately 10-15 milligrams of caffeine
1 c. full leaf ROOIBOS/RED TEA has approximately 0 milligrams of caffeine
1 c. full leaf HERBAL INFUSION TEA has approximately 0 milligrams of caffeine

BUT, if you need your caffeine fix, you can still get the lift you crave with a meaningful immune system boost with TEA! Because caffeine from tea does not take effect for 10-15 minutes, it provides more of a subtle lift - not the rapid jolt in a cup of coffee and won't make you "jittery."

The effect of caffeine is also complemented by another compound found only in tea, theophylline. While caffeine primarily is active in the brain and muscles, theophylline is active in stimulating the respiratory system, heart and kidneys. This corresponds to research that tea is helpful in maintaining a healthy cardio-vascular system.

CAFFEINE TIP:
~
Even if your favorite TEA has caffeine, you should not let that stop your from enjoying TEA. You can easily reduce the caffeine content by 80% without sacrificing flavor or aroma.
Heres how:

Steep the tea for 45 seconds in hot water and then pour off the liquid. RE-add hot water to tea leaves and steep normally.
ENJOY!
